In Case You Need Help Today!

This will be my last blog post for a while. We’re heading out on vacation in our trailer and I want to truly relax and be present in all the moments of our holiday. I’ll do occasional posts but not daily and no schedule, just when the urge strikes me. So I hope today’s post helps you remember how important you are. I hope it reminds you that you are worthy and deserving of peace, care, happiness and wellness.

Be Pretty, Plus and Proud this summer! Remember to get out and enjoy the sun on your skin and the warm breeze on your face. You have the right to take up space wherever you go!

Happy Birthday Morgan!

Today this little girl is celebrating her first birthday! I often talk about focusing on things in life that bring you joy, things you are blessed with that fill your soul. Well this puppy fills my soul and my heart overflows with love and happiness! She is the sweetest puppy, so friendly, always on the lookout for making new friends. She’s gentle with children and seniors and playful with anyone willing to join her. She’s vocal only when she sees friends or threats but otherwise she’s a quiet girl.

Today she’s very fashionable with her birthday outfit and tolerated Mommy taking lots of pictures. She loves her presents, new toys from her family and her BFF.

Morgan also enjoyed yummy treats, a special cookie and a pupacino from Starbucks.

We definitely lucked out with this girl! She fits our family perfectly and we love her beyond measure! If I’m having a bad day, I look at her cute face and pull her into my lap for a cuddle and I immediately perk up. She makes every day brighter!

Happy 1st Birthday Morgan! May you have many years of fun adventures!!

Healing Is Possible

I had a conversation with someone several days ago that inspired me for today’s post. It was a sad conversation and I feel nothing but empathy for the battle this person has fought most of their life.

Let me tell you a story:

Once upon a time a young girl was brought to a doctor for a checkup. After it was concluded the doctor wrote on the chart, in letters large enough for everyone to see, OBESE! Now imagine the embarrassment, the shame and the sadness this young girl must have felt in that moment and just imagine the relationship with food that young girl developed after that appointment.

That young girl would grow up to be someone who never felt comfortable or good enough or happy in their own skin. The woman she became continued to always be at battle with her body, dieting, restricting, fighting against who she was born to be, a curvy and beautiful woman. Money was spent on one failed diet program after another. Food was put into categories of good or bad, can have and can’t. Years were spent not eating birthday cake, desserts, yummy traditional food and replaced with only “healthy” food. Imagine the toll all this has taken on her mental and emotional health.

If she reads this today I want her to understand these things:

– You are beautiful and good enough just the way you are!

– You don’t need to change, society needs to change and understand beauty and health comes in all shapes and sizes.

– Food isn’t good or made and the choices you make about what to eat don’t fall into categories of good or bad. Food is nourishment and everything is allowed and okay in moderation. Eat chips today, maybe an apple tomorrow and an ice cream the next.

– Eat when you’re hungry. Listen to your body. Don’t deny it what it wants.

– Move your body because you love it not because you feel you have to and choose things you enjoy. The gym is not the only place movement counts.

– You have nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of. You are perfectly imperfect.

– You are loved and accepted for who you are on the inside but know the outside is worthy of love too.

– You have a right to take up space with the body you have right now.

– Be authentic. Be confident and Be Pretty, Plus and Proud because you are beautiful, strong, brave, talented, capable, kind and generous.

I hope this woman’s relationship with food can be healed. I know it is possible and I know she is deserving of peace and happiness. If you are suffering like this woman and don’t know where to turn, perhaps a therapist who specializes in body image issues would be a good place to start. Share your feelings with loved ones you know you can trust and who will love and support you unconditionally. Have the conversations that will help you to heal and love food and yourself perhaps for the first time. You do deserve to be free; Free from negative thoughts of yourself, free from constantly thinking about food, free to live and be any way you want.

What Is Self-Love?

Self-love is more than just loving your body. It’s about loving your mind, your talents, your abilities, your personality, your life and everything you do and finally about the people you choose to share your life with. Your body actually has very little to do with self-love because all the other stuff is way more important!

What do I love about myself?

I love…

– my smile

– my green eyes

– my ability to comfort people in times of distress

– my writing skills

– my ideas

– my family and friends who support and love me unconditionally

– the life I have created

– my puppy who always makes me smile

– my interests like swimming, walking my dog, doing yoga, biking, camping, traveling, reading

– my unique sense of style

What do you love about yourself and your life?

Be Pretty, Plus and Proud and love being you because you are worthy of self-love. You deserve to be happy in your own skin and in a life you create that brings you joy, satisfaction and peace.

Things I love that fill my soul with gratitude and pleasure:

My puppy, Captain Morgan!

My family!

Nova Scotia, the home of my heart!

Camping in our trailer!

And I love the uniquely beautiful me inside and out!

You Deserve To Smile Too

It always feels good to make someone smile. Seeing someone’s face light up from a random compliment or an act of kindness never fails to brighten my day too.

Remember though, while you’re doing good deeds and spreading positivity to others, include yourself in the smile making business. What makes you happy? What brings you joy? What turns your frown upside down? Whatever it is, do more of it! You deserve to smile too! You are worthy of happiness too!

Today I spent time with a cherished friend, shopping and having lunch. Being in her company makes me smile and a little retail therapy doesn’t hurt either! What else makes me smile?

– spending time with my daughter on a girls’ day out

– dates with my hubby like movie night, an evening drive or grabbing dinner out

– walking and playing with my puppy

– visiting with family, sharing a meal, playing games and sharing laughs

– camping, riding my bike and swimming on a warm summer’s day

– writing my blog, creating YouTube content and receiving wonderful messages of support from people who feel better about themselves from what I do

– wearing a fabulous outfit and styling myself up

– getting a good haircut or beautiful nails

Your turn, tell me what makes you smile. Maybe your ideas will propel me to try something new.

Be Pretty, Plus and Proud when you say or do something that helps someone have a better day, including doing things for yourself!

Something To Ponder

A friend sent this to me. It’s origin is included in the image at the bottom.

If you do all this for others, don’t forget to ask for it when you are in need. There will be many moments when you too will need attention, affection, acceptance, compassion, direction or someone simply to sit with you. That is okay. That is being human.

Be Pretty, Plus and Proud and be mindful of what batteries are needed in the people you love but also within yourself. You are worthy. You are enough. You are deserving.

You Are More

You are more than your body.

You are intelligent and able to do challenging things.

You are talented and able to create beauty.

You are kind and empathetic, caring for your family and friends so tenderly.

You are beautiful from the inside out, full of an inspiring heart and soul that this world could never do without.

Be Pretty, Plus and Proud and know your body is only the shell that keeps all the most important parts of yourself safe and protected.

Soar Like An Eagle

I saw this story posted on Facebook and it’s truth resonated with me. I hope it brings some clarity and perspective to your day and the choices you will make on this glorious Monday morning that you have been gifted:

We all have decisions to make and everything is based on how you choose to see things. Be as positive as you can be and watch as positivity fills you up and pours into your existence. Be Pretty, Plus and Proud and soar like an eagle. You are worthy of, good enough for and deserving of a wonderful and happy life full of blessings and reasons to be grateful. The power of choice is in your hands!
