Happy Retirement To Me!

My career has officially come to an end. While I haven’t taught in some time because of my MS, I am now officially done. It’s bittersweet. I’m excited for the adventures awaiting me especially since my husband will also be retiring in June but I’m also a bit sad. My career as a teacher ended far sooner than I had planned so it’s one of my life’s biggest disappointments that I wasn’t able to do the job I had always dreamed of.

However, God had a different plan for me and I’ve tried to believe that raising my daughter and being home when she needed me was what I was always really meant to do. Caring for my family and my home has been a joy and a blessing so while I am retired from teaching, being a wife and mother are jobs I’ll have and love for a lifetime!

My husband and I are looking forward to adventures traveling in our trailer and spending time together with no teacher talk! I’m also hoping to reconnect with friends and family once the pandemic restrictions are lifted. I really miss hugs!

I spent a lovely day with family and friends yesterday for my official retirement date. I received some lovely cards and flowers and surprise visits! It was a truly special day thanks to my wonderful husband for arranging a great celebratory day for me!

No matter what stage of life you are in, Be Pretty, Plus and Proud and enjoy every moment. Time sure does go by fast!

Beautiful flowers! I can understand this being bittersweet, but I hope the officialness of this now can give a little closure so you can more confidently go into the next chapter. I’m glad hubby is retiring in just a few months too so you can start those adventures together. Be proud of everything you’ve achieved with your work and also (in my opinion) your attitude for how you’re dealing with what’s happened. It was different for me losing my job due to surgeries and illness, but I ‘get’ the difficulty with accepting and having to take a whole other route in life you never imagined you’d have to take. Enjoy your Starbucks drinks with that voucher!! 🎉
