No Pressure

There’s always an expectation or pressure to do more and be better than what we are. Really it starts in the womb before we’re even born. Parents envision lives for their little ones, imagining sons or daughters walking, talking, learning and growing up as any “normal” child would. Where we make the first crucial error is assuming there is a normal and not normal and not letting our children just be who they were born to be. We box them into stereotypes, what society perceives to be acceptable and successful.

As we grow we are expected to do well in school, make friends, play nice and plan for a future that will be financially, emotionally, mentally and physically fulfilling. When people stray from these societal norms is where the dangers of pressure can occur. If we’re not doing or being like everyone else, we are perceived as less than, not good enough or not worthy.

Well my friends, nothing could be further from the truth. It is when we are truly ourselves that we are successful. If we have the courage to stand out, to be ok with being unique or different, then we will find out what real happiness looks like. If we say, “I don’t care what other people think of me” then we will experience a freedom like no other.

Be Pretty, Plus and Proud and believe that your opinion of yourself is the only one that matters. If you are being your authentic self, you are living the life you were created to live. Don’t buckle under the pressure to be the same as everyone else. How boring is that! Everyone’s journey is different and we need to accept, embrace and not judge each other. We need to encourage each other along the path and applaud each other’s uniqueness and beauty. Be brave, have courage and always just be yourself. However you make that happen is your business and no one else’s.

Thank you to for today’s post inspiration. Check out this great blog if you need some positivity in your life!

Ena – these are wonderful words of encouragement. I couldn’t agree more. Success is what we alone define – not what society says it is. The struggle to be yourself in a world that tries it best to make you into something your not is one we must all reckon with. Thank you Ena – I wish you all the best, AP2 🙏
