Ireland Vacation – Post #3

One of the stops on our tour of the island was Blarney Castle, famous for the traditional “kissing of the Blarney Stone”. Legend says that once you kiss the stone you will be gifted with the gift of eloquence when you speak. Not sure about that but I noticed my daughter definitely had the gift of the gab and humour the rest of our trip, lol! My husband, a natural talker, didn’t need any help in that department!

The castle was built nearly six hundred years ago by one of Ireland’s greatest chieftans, Cormac MacCarthy and has attracted millions of visitors making it a world landmark and one of Ireland’s greatest treasures. The castle is nestled amongst beautiful gardens, lakes and green space with walking paths throughout making it an ideal spot for strolling, picnicking or picture-taking.

I did not attempt to climb the stairs to kiss the stone but did enjoy taking some great pictures to share with you. Hope you enjoy them!

No, we didn’t detour to Florida! Who would have thought you’d see palm trees in Ireland! One of the many beautiful garden spots on the grounds of Blarney Castle (the handsome prince is my hubby).

Look up, look way up! A view from the base of the castle.

Be Pretty, Plus and Proud and do some exploring this weekend! You never know what treasures you’ll find!

When we were in Blarney our daughter kissed the Blarney stone because she needed lots of blarney for her job. We decline not to kiss it because to the gaul darned position you had to get into to reach that stone. Besides, we don’t need any blarney here.
