Weighing In On Oprah’s Weight Watcher’s Commercial

Seems like everyone who has seen the new Weight Watcher’s commercial featuring Oprah Winfrey has something to say about it so I figured I might as well throw my opinion into the mix.

Frankly I’m disappointed and disgusted by her words, “Inside every overweight woman is a woman she knows she can be.” and “Many times you look in the mirror and you don’t even recognize your own self because you got lost, buried in the weight that you carry.”.

Really?! I find it sad that even with all her money and lavish lifestyle she can’t be happy. Just goes to show you, money can’t buy happiness. By this stage in her life you think she’d be able to embrace who she is and love herself but instead she pours her money into a diet program and only helps to make plus size women feel shame instead of self-love and acceptance. We have enough of that to deal with from social media and public opinion. We certainly didn’t need her opinions added to an already overpopulated negative image of plus size women. Did she do this to help people or line her pocketbook with more cash? From what I understand she has made quite a few coins from this venture so does her involvement stem from a sincere desire to inspire or from greed? 

I am not inspired by Oprah! I am already the woman I know I can be and I don’t have to change a thing to recognize my wonderful self! I am neither lost or buried by my weight! It is who I am; I embrace, accept and love who I am!

What are your thoughts on Oprah’s venture with WW?

If I could talk to Oprah I’d say Be Pretty, Plus and Proud and no diet program will ever help you love yourself if you don’t already love who you are with or without the extra pounds!
